Slimy Bird-Poopy Stuff

The weekend before Spring Break we were invited by the Larson's to stay at a beautiful home in Park City.  It was a nice break from the snow even though we would be leaving just one week later for St. George.  

We headed south to play and shop.  The kids needed out of the car so we bought some bread to feed the birds at a little park in Sugarhouse.

It was quite hilarious when Bryce fell in the stream we were crossing.  He took about five saving steps until he slipped in the slimy bird-poopy stuff and went in.  Amazingly, the shake he was holding in one hand didn't spill a drop, and Jase in the other hand only got wet.  It was a close blow to Jase's head but thankfully Bryce is quick and took the blunt of the blow.

There was a great hill to run/roll/sit on.  We watched people fly kites and the kids took pictures. 

Addie learned the "don't step on a crack or you will break your mom's back" rhyme at school.  Looks like I don't have a choice. 

At the end of the day we stopped to get gas and Bryce jokingly was wiping the bird poop from his pants.  (He was wet from head to toe and was freezing all day!  Poor guy)

Winter Wonderland... In Spring!?

I know I live in Wyoming, and I know that it is not unusual to snow here in June.  In fact, last year our last traces of snow were finally gone sometime in May.  However, I did think it was safe to put away the snow blower for the year.  After this storm passes through, in the next day or two, it looks like I will be blowing some snow out of my driveway.  Then I think it will be safe to put the machine away...I hope, I hope, I hope!

Well I now know where my son, Hayden, gets his unusually confident behavior from.  

Ever since we got our Wii for christmas, he has been so overly confident with himself.  He usually wins any game that you play with him and he knows it.

For Valentine's Day I got Bryce his own Wii game,  Tiger Woods 2009.  He loves that silly game, except...Hayden beats him at that too.  Bryce is a pretty humble guy so I will be the one to say that he has an excellent golf swing and the fact that a five year old with a swing resembling that of a baseball player rather than a golfer, keeps beating him at his own golf game is very frustrating to him.  

Last night Bryce stayed up until nearly midnight practicing his golf game on the Wii.  As soon as Hayden awoke this morning Bryce was challenging him.  They began the game and the frustrations started.  Hayden drove the ball farther than Bryce.  Bryce's comment?  "Drive for show, putt for dough!"

...Hayden won!

Bowling 17 Jan 09

We went bowling with my brother and his family two months ago.  Okay, come on lady, BLOG IT ALREADY!

So for christmas my parents got us Wii's.  We all started with Wii bowling-because it was one of the easiest games for the kids.  Well, I won't mention any names (Hayden) but some of us got a little cocky- thinking we could kick some "real bowling" trash.  So, we frequented the local bowling alley down the street.

Guess who won.......JASE!  The terrifically talkless two year old!

Look at that form.  Perfection.  Hayden, bottom right, is my favorite.  He is the one with the ego.  Does he get that from you Nicki?  Bryce has always been so humble about his agility.

Even After The Crash, Jase Still Wants To Help

Bryce took Jase for a ride on his little motorcycle.  After, Jase was sitting on the bike and it tipped over.  His first crash!  He looked miserable but he was still very happy to watch dad and Andy work on getting Andy's bike started.

Going To The "Firecracker"

Hayden woke up Monday with a kink in his neck.  I didn't think much of it because with Hayden there is always something wrong.  He did fall out of bed last night, but when your child wiggles so much that he falls out of chairs and runs into walls daily, it just isn't too surprising.  Anyway, another day goes by, and he still can't look to one side or up so I decided to take him to the chiropractor.  Long story short, he thought we were going to the firecracker!  Too cute!

It's All About Addie

So apparently everything has been about Addie this past week.  I will explain each photo of her fun life-because we all know that the world revolves around these kids!

CRAZY HAIR DAY

Addie's class earned enough tickets that they got to choose their reward.  They chose crazy hair day.  Addie wanted green braids with wire in them so they would go in "crazy" directions.  This is what we should have done for St. Patrick's day-but no, that would be the obvious thing to do and I don't think of cool things like that until after the fact!  Oh well.

She was bummed that I didn't spray it completely green.  I never do things quite right!

SECOND HONORS

Grandma came to celebrate with us at school for Addie's second honors.

Mr. Allred is the principal of the Afton Elementary and he is great!  The kids respect him and want to please him.  They have so many fun incentives to get the kids excited about learning at this school.  Alan is so amazing!  I had to take these pictures of him sitting among all the kids at "school sing" that they do every Thursday.

Every week the kids come to the gym to sing songs and honor kids that have received their honors.  They earn their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so forth honors when they earn 100 points.  They earn these points by reading and testing on books.  The books Addie has been reading are only worth 1/2 a point so she read 200 books to earn her first honors and 200 more to earn her second honors.  She is now working toward her third honors!

The librarians set up the stage with a white screen, strobe light, and black light.  Then all the kids being honored dance across the stage while playing music.  Addie loves to be silly and it is fun to see her come out of her shell in front of the whole school!  Of course she runs as fast as she can across the stage each time, but she's up there right?

She is sixth from the left in this photo and you can tell by her body language that she is a little out of her comfort zone.  I still can't believe how much she loves to read.  By the way, the incentive for all her reading?  Dance on stage with her teacher and eat lunch at Burger King with a friend and the principal!  Whatever works, I guess!

A DRAWING

Addie colored this at church.  I found it in my church bag days later and it just makes me laugh every time I read it.  She is awesome!

KINDERGARTEN

Sorry, another old photo.  We lost Addie's kindergarten class photo so I made a copy from Taven Frazier's and decided to post it before we lost it again.  I love class photos-all the kids are so... so goofy!

THE TOOTH FINALLY CAME OUT-THANK GOODNESS

These are the before pics.  I told her if she didn't pull her tooth out by bedtime then I was going to do it.

These pictures don't do her tooth justice.  This tooth was literally hanging out of her mouth.  It had moved away from the other teeth, was poking forward, and had looked like this for a good month.  Everyone wanted to pull it out.  It was obnoxious.  I was so tired of night after night trying to get her confidence up to have me pull it out.  Then she goes to the bathroom to try for herself, works on it for an hour, and comes out crying and frustrated.  I was done with that silly tooth!  So I gave her the ultimatum...

...and she came home from school looking like this!  Yay!  I am so glad the drama from this one little tooth is over!  And I don't think she could look cuter!

The second tooth to the left of the hole is actually an extra tooth.  Her front teeth have never lined up with her nose as you can easily see now that the tooth is missing-the hole is almost centered with her nose.  I think I see some orthodontist bills in my future!

Uncle Brian??!! 

So there is one last part to this story.  Addie asked the tooth fairy for $100 and if she didn't leave the money she was supposed to wake Addie up.  Well she had a box ready to trap the tooth fairy.  Apparently the tooth fairy was smart and left the money (four gold dollars, not 100) under her pillow and not in the box.  She also thought she was being cute when she left sparkley "fairy dust" under her pillow.  It must have been quite dark in Addie's room last night because the "fairy dust" was everywhere and the sheets had to be cleaned.  Silly tooth fairy!
