Yeah that's right, a brain tumor! My mother-in-law Eileen went in for an eye exam nearly a month ago and found that her vision in her left eye was nearly gone. She had an MRI done and a tumor she knew was on her pituitary almost ten years ago is now the size of an egg. She went to visit the neurosurgeon on Monday of this week and they scheduled her surgery for Tuesday. She would have lost her sight completely if she didn't have the procedure done! We left Tuesday morning to be with her before she went into surgery and ended up not getting home until late Wednesday night. She went into the ICU for recovery and they finally put her in a normal room Wednesday afternoon. Everything went well and she is recovering nicely.
Luckily for her and the pocketbook they were able to go through her nose to remove the yogurt-like tumor. So instead of $200,000 they are looking at $30-50,000 instead. Plus recovery is much easier- no shaved head, only a swollen nose and a slightly larger nostril, as you can imagine.
Thank you to all who offered a prayer in her behalf. She made a funny comment on Brooke's blog that said "thank you all from the bottom of my heart and the middle of my brain!" Apparently she still has a sense of humor. She should be home by Saturday and then recovering for a few weeks. Nothing like a good scare to bring a family closer together!
